Beto O’Rourke, Marijuana Legalization Supporter, Beats Rep. Silvestre Reyes (UPDATE)

May 30, 2012

Folks in Texas know a lot more about marijuana wars and problems on the border than the politicians in Washington. Now, thanks to overzealous state legislatures, seasonal workers are not returning to pick our food crops, and many farmers will pay the price of high spoilage. This will raise the price of the food they do harvest. Hopefully someone in Washington, whether newly elected or otherwise, will come to their senses and devise a plan to deal with marijuana wars and America’s need for legal seasonal workers to pick our food crops soon. We already import a lot of food from Mexico. If we keep the seasonal workers out, we will be importing more and farmers will plant less. Is this what we want? Do we want to import our food just so we can keep people out of our country?
