CITYWIDE COALITION FOR SF NEIGHBORHOODS ENDORSES WATERFRONT INITIATIVE
San Francisco neighborhood associations from Russian Hill to the Richmond District last night voted overwhelmingly to endorse the Waterfront Height Limit Right To Vote Initiative that will appear on the June ballot to give voters the power to preserve existing waterfront height limits and protect an open and accessible waterfront.  At the General Assembly Meeting of the citywide Coalition for San Francisco Neighborhoods, representatives from neighborhood associations across the city heard a debate about the initiative from proponents and opponents and then voted unanimously to support the Waterfront Initiative.
“The overwhelming citywide vote last year to defeat the 8 Washington waterfront luxury condos showed that people from every part of San Francisco agree that our waterfront should remain open and not walled off by high-rise luxury towers like Miami and so many waterfronts around the world,” said Jon Golinger, Campaign Director for the No Wall on the Waterfront coalition. “We are thrilled to add the Coalition for San Francisco Neighborhoods to the citywide coalition that has joined together to pass this initiative to let the voters decide whether our waterfront height limits should be respected.”

ONLINE DONATION LINK LIVE – PLEASE SUPPORT THE WATERFRONT INITIATIVE LEGAL DEFENSE FUND
Our top priority right now is to raise the funds in the next few weeks to support a vigorous legal defense of the voters’ right to vote on the Waterfront Height Limit Initiative.  On Valentine’s Day, a group of 8 Washington backers sued the San Francisco Elections Director in a pre-election legal attempt to remove the initiative from the ballot and prevent the voters from having a say.  While they have a weak case and we expect the City Attorney to put on a strong defense, the proponents of the Waterfront Initiative have the right and responsibility to file our own legal briefs in support of the city’s defense.  Please give what you can today to help us win and ensure the voters have the right to vote on protecting San Francisco’s beautiful waterfront.
