S.F. nurseries vital to business statewide

I operate an interiorscape business on the Central Coast. It is only through the assistance and availability of foliage purchased from San Francisco Foliage that I was able to open, and maintain my business. I am devastated to hear that they are being required to shut down their operation in San Francisco.

It appears their facility space may be needed for construction vehicles to upgrade the water treatment plant. I am writing to express the impact that this will have on many of us, whose livelihoods depend on the accessibility to the products offered by San Francisco Foliage. If there is any modification that can be made to mitigate the devastation that will be imposed upon myself and many other businesses, I ask that you please seek to accommodate a less drastic solution to the situation.

Sunborne, the other business in the same structure, is happily making plans for a new facility in Richmond — much too far for most of us. Is it possible that S.F. Foliage be allowed a waiver, and that Sunborne space be used for construction purposes?

Please do not downplay the effect that this will have on our industry!

“Board approves rolling bike stops; Lee likely to veto,” The City, Dec. 16
Avalos’ faulty logic

Supervisor Avalos says the $200 fine for bike riders who roll through stop signs is “the difference between making their monthly rent or not.” It’s that kind of logic that leaves me shaking my head.

Here’s a suggestion: Don’t run through the damn stop sign and you can make your rent.

And besides, being able to make your rent, you just might not injure someone, or yourself, or a cause an accident.

San Francisco…

San Francisco is becoming a one-industry city and losing the diversity that sustained it through the last dot com crash. Will the next one come before tech kills off all other businesses?
